EHRCO Established in 1991, the Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO) is the first non-governmental human rights organization working on the promotion and protection of human rights in Ethiopia. EHRCO is free from the influence of political parties, religious institutions, tribal groups, and social classes. It stands for democracy, the rule of law and the respect of human rights. In accordance with “The Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No 1113/2019”, EHRCO was re-registered as an independent and non-profit human rights institution. Job Description Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is used to assess the performance of projects, institutions and programmes set up by governments, international organizations, and NGOs. Its goal is to improve current and future management of outputs, outcomes, and impact. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the overall responsibility of the Junior M&E Officer is to provide ongoing support to the EHRCO team with a view to ensuring broad communications and administrative support to the team on a regular basis thereby assuring that the team can provide deep insight and data quality to the entire organization both pro-actively and in response to regular and ad-hoc requests. The Junior M&E Officer will require solid technical proficiency, communication skills and data analysis and the ability to work congenially within a highly cross-functional and large team. The Officer will support the implementation of a wide variety of EHRCO projects with the objective of improving program effectiveness and ensuring donor compliance Program communication: Contribute to the development and design of logical measurement frameworks, monitoring systems and evaluation strategies in project start-ups, including participatory monitoring and feedback mechanisms Leading in the design and preparation of communication materials to share evidence generated by the organization. These materials may include existing products already developed, but may also include other types of formats which may suit internal or external audiences Develop clear data flow process for communication materials developed by the organization, ensuring data quality review and review for language and content Work cross-functionally internal teams in communications and/or marketing in response to requests for EHRCO’s data and materials to demonstrate program effectiveness and results Assist in developing presentations and reports using infographics, Powerpoint, charts, and tables Respond to requests from the Program Coordinator on data requests as required Administrative support: Maintaining an updated rolling work plan for the Organization, and informing staff of deliverables and deadlines across all projects and cross-sectoral deliverables Presenting a clear picture of achievements of EHRCO on a quarterly basis which can be presented internally to Senior Management Administer monthly meetings within EHRCO and keep records of meeting minutes, deliverables and agendas, as well as manage communications Administer additional meetings within the EHRCO team which may require support – including meetings, M&E meetings with Management Committee and other meetings proposed by the Executive Director Maintain filing system for EHRCO materials and products Monitoring and Evaluation Support: Assist team members in ad-hoc requests for support in research questions, data review, data analysis, and development of Terms of Reference, studies, monitoring tools and protocols Research latest trends, websites and key sources for studies and research in order to ensure that the EHRCO team is availed to most updated quality information, best practices and lessons learned on evaluation, monitoring tools, and trends in the sector Lead in the development of databases, consultant lists and indicators lists which may improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the work of the Organization Skills, Experience, and Qualifications 1-2 years of experience in planning, research, monitoring and evaluation of social development programs and projects, preferably in a CSO; Familiarity with Results-Based Management approach, Logical and/or performance measurement Framework development; Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), design and publishing software, and internet use Strong organizational and management skills and ability to multi-task and take notes; Strong research, information gathering, analysis and presentation skills; Demonstrated interest and capacity in data collection, compilation, representation, and analysis skills for both quantitative and qualitative data; Knowledge of statistical analysis, quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Knowledge of statistical software is preferred; A strong work ethic; Personal values consistent with those of EHRCO’s values
