Duties and Responsibilities
- Contributing to the preparation of responses for exploration, identification, and acquisition of data sources.
- Supporting senior staff in maintaining relationships with key clients to leverage data science methods.
- Preparing input for the design and development of data science products using analytical methods.
- Developing and maintaining socio-economic databases and qualitative information.
- Analyzing globalization trends with a focus on Africa's integration into the global economy.
- Providing client training and developing products, tools, and processes.
- Adjusting customized visualization and presentation products to reveal findings.
- Preparing data sets upon request and maintaining/updating web pages.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Studies or training in the following fields is desirable:
- Computer science
- Software engineering
- Data science
- Statistics
- Applied mathematics
- Data management
- Information systems
- Information science
- Related quantitative fields
Work Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in data analytics across social and economic development data or related areas is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience in data visualization tools is desirable. Additionally, one year or more of experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
