Finance Officer Position
The Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Finance Officer for our operations in North Area Office – Shire, Tigray.
About the Job
The Finance Officer is responsible for:
- Ensuring donor project budgeting and reporting
- Compliance with DRC’s Operations Handbook and statutory requirements
- Assisting in budget preparation and processing of information
- Managing and supervising the finance unit
- Providing support and technical guidance to field operations
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Your main duties will include:
- Maintaining timely and accurate accounting records
- Supporting area office finance staff in maintaining an accurate accounting database
- Performing spot checks and furnishing reports
- Liaising with project managers for regular budget monitoring
- Providing onboarding orientation to staff on finance procedures
- Ensuring cash flow is maintained
- Producing accounts receivable and payable reports
- Supervising and training finance staff at the field level
Audit & Compliance
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing a draft of the post-audit improvement plan
- Serving as audit focal person for internal and external audits
- Training teams on donor compliance rules
DRC Dynamics ERP System
Ensure that finance processes are handled properly via DRC Dynamics:
- Ensure ERP finance functionalities are properly used
- Apply reports and data analytics to improve performance
Experience and Technical Competencies
Candidates should possess:
- Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
- Results-oriented approach and ability to build partnerships
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Education and Language Requirements
Candidates must have:
- A University degree in accounting, finance, or audit
- Fluency in English, Tigrigna, and Amharic

Contract Details
We offer:
- Contract length: Six Months
- Contract Type: National
- Duty Station: North Area Office – Shire, Tigray
