Role purpose:
The Enterprise Technical Solution Design & Implementation Specialist will be responsible for system and solution architecting while also doubling as technical implementation lead working closely with service delivery manager(s) to implement customer systems and solutions. This will cover solution design and architecting, expert advice for the Enterprise customers, and work with internal teams to create plans, transformational designs, and the architectural vision for complex solutions that address the customer needs. The role will also provide multi-technology expert opinion services on all aspects of application software, infrastructure, and related technology components.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Leads the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure, or functional areas.
- Identifies and evaluates alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance, and scalability.
- Produces designs and specifications of cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers,s and interfaces, that translate into detailed solution designs as per customer requirements and based on pipeline and catalog services and products.
- Take technical responsibility for solution implementation by assuming accountabilities of technical inputs into the project delivery teams and also tracking that implementation is going as per the designs generated.
- Responsible for ratifying changes in the project as a result of either additional requirements from the customer or constraints that are encountered as the project progresses
- Supports a change program or project through the preparation of technical plans and application of design principles that comply with enterprise and solution architecture standards.
- Takes responsibility for understanding Customer requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis, and problem resolution.
- Monitors the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies.
- Creates reports and technology roadmaps and shares knowledge and insights with others.
- Design solutions using appropriate modeling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns, and methodology.
- Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders of the architecture and to handle both functional and non-functional requirements, including proof of concept (POC).
- Reviews verifies, and improves own designs against specifications.
- Contribute to the development of new go-to-market services and contribute knowledge on relevant verticals.
- Operate across both the technical levels within the enterprise architecture and the value chain to develop holistic and integrated solutions.
- Orchestrating and managing broad-based and multi-skilled teams to ensure effective delivery of business outcomes
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
- Solid professional technical, IT, or Operations experience within a mixed technology services environment on the following areas: Software Development, Application Suppor,t and Infrastructure Support
- Proven experience in the design and Solution architecting field
- Some Project or Program Management experience would be preferred
- Proven Customer engagement and consulting experience coupled with solid experience in Customer needs assessment and change management
- Proven experience in integrating the solution for the particular project with the business domain, enterprise concerns, industry standards, established patterns, and best practices
- Experience working in an agile development environment
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree relevant to IT and/or Engineering fields
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Five or more years of experience in Information Technology or telecommunications as an enterprise/solutions architect or systems analyst role in a Telecommunication environment or any technology function.
- Expertise in network domains e.g. wireless networks, transmission, optical transmission, IP routing and protocols, PON and wireline access technologies, etc.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity solutions, cloud solutions, datacenter fabric solutions, and enterprise networking
- Multi-technology knowledge and experience in enterprise technology
- Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, SOA, SAFe, ITIL, COBIT, etc.)
- Solid knowledge of multi-vendor service integrations and cross-functional software, OS’s and infrastructure designs
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Knowledgeable on how specific infrastructures and application software are deployed in line with relevant methodologies and frameworks
- Ability to maintain knowledge of trends and development in technology domains
- Demonstrate business acumen to drive the right priorities.
- Responsible to own and deliver (using matrix leadership):
- Business/Systems Requirements Functional Placement in Systems.
- High-Level Architecture & System Flow Architecture.
- Process/System Flows (Cross business and portfolio that assign Responsibilities) - Present Mode of Operation & Future Mode of Operation.
- Low-level design and system interface documents (attribute level, data models, etc.).
- Metrics associated with the Business Case Quantification.
- Drive work towards target architecture plans and incremental progress.
- Standard Tech Stack enforcement and emerging technologies ( Such as IoT technology and solutions).
Industry Certification:
- A candidate who has below industry certification has a priority
- CCNA/CCNP
- CCDE
- Certified in AWS/Azure/Google Cloud
- TOGAF
- IP Routing & Transport Network
Key performance indicators:
- Generating functional designs & architectures that address customer needs
- Maintains a motivated and highly performing staff
- Providing technical leadership and guidance
- Time, Cost, and Quality. Delivering designs and projects to agreed time cost and quality criteria
- Governance Audit. Projects are delivered under the Safaricom Professional Services Governance Framework
- Regular review via internal stakeholder feedback and external customer surveys
- Professional Services KPI delivery targets.
Educational Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer and /or IT Engineering fields
- Minimum of five or more years of experience in Enterprise Technology solutions, enterprise/solutions architecture, and ISP/Telecommunication technology function.
