The Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Supply Chain Assistant - Warehouse for our operations in North Area Office – Mekelle, Tigray.
About the Job
The Supply Chain Assistant - Warehouse is responsible for day-to-day warehouse inventory and asset management. This role works closely with the Supply Chain Officer and other support departments.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the DRC North Area Office Support Service Manager / Supply Chain Officer, the Supply Chain Assistant will perform the following tasks:
- Warehouse and Inventory Management: Verify quantity and quality of goods/services against PR/PO and receive.
- Documentation: Issue GRN/product receipt for materials purchased offline or through the system.
- Asset Management: Ensure all asset & equipment receipt, registration, tagging, storage, issue, and disposal management.
- Cleanliness: Ensure cleanliness and proper arrangement of the North Area Office warehouse.
- Material Handling: Properly handle materials with high care and category sensitivity following DRC warehouse management policy and procedures.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly warehouse inventory and asset reports and share them with program and support staff.
- Inventory Management: Identify and report obsolete inventory, assets, and equipment for disposal or maintenance.
- Record Keeping: Maintain clear, updated, and dependable asset, equipment, and inventory records.
- Fuel Management: Perform refueling of rented vehicles and ensure fuel consumption tracking system.
- Accountability: Ensure all staff are responsible for effective management of assets and equipment.
- Physical Checks: Organize and facilitate regular physical checks of all assets and equipment.
- Material Release: Effectively release materials from the warehouse and document properly.
- Assistance: Assist the North Area Office Supply Chain Officer as needed.
- Replacement: Replace during the absence of the North Area Office procurement officer.
- Other Tasks: Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Experience and Technical Competencies
- Training: Training in the supply chain area.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience, preferably with an INGO.
- Skills: Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Teamwork: Be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Language: Good command of both spoken and written English.
- Commitment: Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
- Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office packages is essential.
Education
- Degree/Diploma in purchasing and supply management, management, finance, or relevant fields.
Language Requirements
Fluency in English, Tigrigna, and Amharic - Excellent in spoken and written.
