Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Mason.

The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (44 hours per week)
  • Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

The incumbent performs skilled journeyman masonry work in buildings and other structures on all U.S. Government owned and leased properties. This includes but is not limited to, wall and structural repairs, tiling, plastering, concrete flatwork, and equipment installation. The incumbent will install, maintain, and repair sidewalks, driveways, and foundations as required.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

  • EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years experience as a skilled mason is required.

  • EDUCATION: Completion of secondary school is required. Apprenticeship or trade-school training is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing Amharic is required. (This may be tested).

                    Level 2 (Limited knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required (This may be tested).

Skills and Abilities: Ability to properly use all electrical and mechanical tools of the trade. Must be able to read blueprints, plans, and specifications correctly. Must have a valid Grade 2 Ethiopian driving license for a minimum of 5 (five) years. (These may be tested)
