Humanitarian Energy is a private company, established in 2022, dedicated to delivering clean and sustainable energy solutions to refugees and displaced populations. In collaboration with local communities, governments, and various stakeholders, we devise innovative and tailored approaches to address energy requirements.

With over 120 million people forcibly displaced globally and refugee camps often persisting for more than two decades, Humanitarian Energy is driven by the conviction that more effective and sustainable energy solutions are urgently needed. We strive to fill this critical gap by providing clean, high-quality, and affordable energy services to humanitarian settings, organizations, and operations, both within Ethiopia and internationally.

Our services for prospective clients encompass the design, financing, construction, and management of substantial clean energy infrastructures. These initiatives align with the clean energy demands and carbon reduction goals through commercially viable models. Humanitarian Energy is at the forefront of the humanitarian sector's shift towards cleaner and more sustainable energy alternatives.

Our Business Models include:

1. Hybrid solar PV mini-grids - Deployed to energize lives, businesses, and humanitarian efforts in displaced communities via pre-paid metering systems.

2. ESCO/Asset leasing for stand-alone systems - Providing turn-key solutions for humanitarian agencies and operations. We take full responsibility for the operation and maintenance of our systems, ensuring a hassle-free experience and complete client satisfaction.

In Ethiopia, in partnership with Mercy Corps, our principal investor, Humanitarian Energy demonstrated that commercial ventures can successfully provide sustainable power on a large scale in humanitarian contexts. We are holders of mini-grid and ESCO licenses, authorizing us to implement energy systems in the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia, with a robust expansion plan nationwide.
