Job Summary

Ensure the reliability and availability of machinery and ancillary equipment by performing machine installation/set up, maintenance and modification of parts or mechanical instruments for smooth machinery operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of good mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers
• Put machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders, etc
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations
• Maintain the assigned machinery cleanliness, safety, readiness and the availability of raw materials, chemicals, and additives needed prior to the beginning of production process. Keep all raw materials and additives in their proper and right place and avoid contamination, damage, and wastage
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter
• Responsible for own safety and the safety of others in the work area; must adhere to all safety policy and accident prevention compliance programs
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the line manager

Education

• The position requires a minimum of TVET Level 3 or TVET Level 4/Diploma or Bachelor degree and CoC Mechanical/Electromechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or General Mechanics or Industrial/ Manufacturing Technology or Mechanical Engineering related field of studies

Experience

• 5 or 3 or 1 respective years’ experience as Welder in FMCG factory or industrial setting
