Established in 2009, UNOPS EMCO has been providing services to various partners, including the government of Ethiopia, UN agencies such as WHO, UNHCR and WFP, and other international organizations. In 2014, the UNOPS Executive Director decided to establish the UNOPS EMCO, which manages and coordinates the UNOPS activities in Ethiopia, Sudan and Djibouti. The EMCO, which covers Ethiopia, Sudan and Djibouti, was created in 2014. Since its creation, EMCO has been an active member of the United Nations Country Team, working closely with other UN organizations to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). EMCO designs projects to reinforce and bolster development priorities of the host-governments and other partners in sustainable procurement, project management and infrastructure through direct implementation, advisory and transactional services. EMCO is committed to promoting the principles of sustainability and national capacity development through meaningful contributions, and serving people in need.
