Job Overview
The Communication Manager will support the Ethiopia Rapid Response Mechanism (ET-RRM) by:
- Leading strategic communication and visibility efforts
- Producing timely, accurate, and brand-aligned content
- Coordinating storytelling, photography, and reporting
- Developing creative, platform-specific campaigns
Major Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Branding & Visibility Coordination: Ensure consistent use of ET-RRM branding across all platforms.
- Content Creation & Storytelling: Collect, draft, and edit human-interest stories from the field.
- Photography & Visual Content: Capture and curate high-quality photographs with appropriate captions.
- Messaging & Public Communication: Draft and edit press releases and social media content.
- Reporting & Information Management: Lead communication reporting and compile situational reports.
- Capacity Building & Support: Train field staff on branding and digital storytelling.
Impact of Work
This position is expected to:
- Proactively offer suggestions to strengthen ET-RRM’s digital visibility
- Identify emerging trends in humanitarian communication
Minimum Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- BA/MBA graduate in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
Preferred experience & skills:
- Minimum 3 years for master's holders and 4 years of relevant experience for degree holders
- Experience in humanitarian or development communication
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Expertise in managing professional social media channels
- Proficiency in photography, graphic design, and video editing
- Familiarity with donor visibility guidelines
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in content calendar planning
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work effectively with stakeholders
- Proactive and flexible in responding to change
Language Skills
Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional local languages are an asset.
Certificates or Licenses
Relevant, profession-related professional certifications.
