Job Purpose

To supervise and maintain all farmland is free from pesticides, herbicides etc.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Generic Duties

• Sets deadlines in ways that comply with the department’s plans and communicate them to subordinates,
• Organizes workflow and ensures that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks,
• Monitors employee productivity and provides constructive feedback and coaching,

Main Duties

• Plans, organizes, coordinates, and executes all plant protection activities,
• Prepares annual plant protection work program and budget,
• Raises purchase requisition of all materials necessary for plant protection activities,
• Leads the team in conducting pest and disease assessments,
• Reviews and evaluates daily pest and disease assessments and passes decisions on spray programs,
• Ensure all necessary spraying equipment likes sprayers, tractors, and water available,
• Control and approve pest control chemical preparation or mixing to the labels on the chemical containers or chemical mixing work instructions,
• Instructs and assignee spray teams per the assessment-based spray decisions,
• Leads post spray assessments to prove spray effectiveness,
• Conducts regular training of pest assessors, spray teams and spray equipment teams,
• Avail protective devices to sprayers, assessors, and spray equipment technicians,
• Performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualification and Skills

• BSc or MSc in Agricultural Engineering or Agronomy or Horticulture or related fields of study.

Experience

• 8 years for BSc
• 6 years for MSc
