Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Human Resources Assistant (LE Services and Inclusion Advisor) in the Human Resources office.

Duties

The incumbent serves as the HR advisor on disabilities and inclusion in the workplace and performs a variety of other specific human resources functions, including but not limited to strategic recruitment of underrepresented groups, employee relations, coordinator of the Special Immigrant Visa Program, and special recognition awards program. Administers the Special Immigrant Visa program for the Bi-Mission issuing two calls for applications annually. Works closely with the Consular Section to ensure that any changes to the Department of State’s Policy or changes to US Immigration and Nationality law, the Special Immigrant Visa Program are captured in the LE Staff handbook and HR policy guidance.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

  • All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
  • The selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable time (4 weeks) upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Education Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years of college studies is required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in Human resources or Administrative field is required. 

Language:

  • Good working knowledge in speaking/reading/writing English and Amharic is required. (These may be tested)

Job Knowledge:

  • A good working knowledge of local labor laws on recruitment and prevailing practices pertaining to the recruitment of people with a disability is required.
  • A good working knowledge of major players in the Ethiopian disabilities community is required.
  • A good working knowledge of general office management practices and procedures is required. 

Skills And Abilities:

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet). Must have an understanding of mathematical formulas for preparing statistical reports on various elements of data analysis. Strong writing skills to produce official correspondence, and update spreadsheets and reports. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills to manage in-person and telephone contacts. Must have good presentation skills to present before audiences of varying sizes. Must be organized, diligent, and able to work under pressure. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality. Good interpersonal relationships are required. (These may be tested)
