General Head Accountant

Job Summary

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Head Accountant to lead and oversee our client's accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years of direct experience in the manufacturing sector. The Head Accountant will be responsible for:

• Supervising the accounting team
• Ensuring accurate financial reporting
• Managing budgets
• Ensuring compliance with local tax and financial regulations

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure proper financial records are maintained.
• Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, financial regulations, and company policies.
• Supervise, train, and guide the accounting team.
• Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Oversee inventory valuation and cost accounting processes related to manufacturing.
• Coordinate and liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and external financial institutions.
• Review and approve reconciliations, payroll, and other financial statements.
• Identify and implement process improvements for better financial efficiency.
• Report directly to the Finance Manager/General Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. (Master’s Degree or CPA/ACCA is an added advantage)
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, ERP systems, and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
