Job Summary
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Head Accountant to lead and oversee our client's accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years of direct experience in the manufacturing sector. The Head Accountant will be responsible for:
- Supervising the accounting team
- Ensuring accurate financial reporting
- Managing budgets
- Ensuring compliance with local tax and financial regulations
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure proper financial records are maintained.
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, financial regulations, and company policies.
- Supervise, train, and guide the accounting team.
- Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Oversee inventory valuation and cost accounting processes related to manufacturing.
- Coordinate and liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and external financial institutions.
- Review and approve reconciliations, payroll, and other financial statements.
- Identify and implement process improvements for better financial efficiency.
- Report directly to the Finance Manager/General Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. (Master’s Degree or CPA/ACCA is an added advantage)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, ERP systems, and financial reporting standards.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
