Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Head of the Production Services, and the direct supervision of the printing supervisor of the Unit, he/she will be responsible for the following duties:
- Organizes and co-coordinates the work of a particular shift to ensure timely production of official documents and publications.
- Ensures print-finishing equipment is operated in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Interfaces with the Front Desk, printers, and graphic designers for a complete understanding of the job.
- Distributes assignments for efficient processing of documentation and equitable distribution of work.
- Maintains daily statistics and performs related administrative work as required.
- Interprets technical specifications of jobs into printing finishing operations.
- Performs all print finisher equipment operator functions as noted in the job specifications.
- Maintains knowledge of safety requirements and ensures safe operation of equipment.
- Informs supervisor of equipment problems and coordinates repairs as needed.
- Operates finishing equipment attached to digital printing equipment.
- Performs operator-level troubleshooting and maintenance on print finishing equipment.
- Assures smooth continuity with respect to consecutive shifts.
- Trains junior staff in operation of equipment and workflow procedures.
- Performs supervisory functions in the absence of the team leader.
- Rotates in shifts and weekend on-call duties as needed.
- Assists with data collection, analysis, and preparation of presentations and reports.
- Updates information material such as web pages or brochures.
- Performs other related work as required.

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent. Studies or training in electromechanical engineering is desirable.
Work Experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience as a print finisher is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. Knowledge of designing, printing, and desktop publishing is desirable. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
