About the role

Education Development Trust are looking for a Programme Manager (Technical Lead) to lead the mobilisation and implementation of our exciting new education and skills programme in Ethiopia together with our consortium partners. The programme will strengthen the relevance and quality of secondary education to ensure the successful transition of secondary students to tertiary education or the world of work by equipping them with relevant skills, knowledge and attitude through enhanced implementation of the competency-based curriculum.

The Programme Manager (Technical Lead) will lead the programme and manage the the delivery staff. They will work closely with the regional teams, consortium partners and the Project Management Unit (PMU) to deliver the agreed educational outcomes, ensuring adherence to client and organisational policies and procedures, and maintaining professional relationships with the client, senior government officials and partners. They will guide and oversee the development and implementation of a range of measures to assist teachers and school leaders deliver the competency-based curriculum in secondary schools and support young people from marginalised communities to successfully transition to post secondary study or work.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience in leading an education or skills programme
  • Experience in managing complex, large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders, including international teams and external partners.
  • Experience in delivery of education projects
  • Knowledge of gender and/or youth issues
  • Experience stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and ensuring financial compliance with project requirements.
