Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Provide nursing care to patients with eye conditions and vision problems.
- Assess patients’ eye health and record medical histories.
- Monitor patient vital signs and overall condition before and after procedures.
- Educate patients on eye care, treatment plans, and medication use.
Clinical Assistance
- Assist ophthalmologists during eye examinations and surgical procedures.
- Prepare and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
- Perform basic ophthalmic tests such as visual acuity testing.
- Administer prescribed eye medications, drops, and treatments.
Pre- and Post-Operative Care
- Prepare patients for ophthalmic surgeries and procedures.
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery.
- Educate patients on post-surgery care and follow-up instructions.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
- Record examination results, treatment plans, and patient progress.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
Infection Control and Safety
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain sterile environments.
- Ensure proper handling and sterilization of ophthalmic instruments.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Valid nursing license/registration.
- Specialized training or certification in Ophthalmic Nursing is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of nursing experience.
- Experience in ophthalmology or eye care clinics is preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and eye diseases.
- Strong patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
