Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Guard (Senior) position.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (48 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: No

Travel Required: Not Required


Duties

The incumbent serves as a member of the Local Guard Force (LGF) as a Senior Guard and is responsible for the control of persons and materials entering and leaving the facility during office hours at their post. Reports to the Supervisor. Provides interment administrative support to the Supervisor regarding daily assignments for respective LGF Mission posts.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least one year of previous work experience as a Guard with the U.S. Embassy Addis Ababa Local Guard Force.

EDUCATION: High/Secondary school diploma is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:

  • Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Amharic is required.
  • Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (These may be tested).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to understand the security control panel and to operate emergency alarms and the public address system. Ability to use state-of-the-art security and radio communication equipment. Ability to use Automated External Defibrillator. Ability to use a fire extinguisher. Ability to use personal protective equipment (i.e. PR-24, straight batons, pepper spray, handcuffs, flexi cuffs, etc.). Daily duties may involve extended periods of walking and/or standing in a wide variety of weather conditions. Possess local driver?s class III license. (These may be tested).

Agency Benefits:
