Job Summary
The Anesthetist, under the supervision of the MSIE Specialty Centre Manager, is responsible for pre-operative patient assessment, administration of anesthesia, and intra- and post-operative patient care. This role ensures all anesthesia equipment, medications, and supplies are available and functioning, while maintaining patient safety and supporting surgical teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Take patient/client history for pre-anesthetic assessment, examine, and provide necessary precautions before surgery in consultation with gynecologists/obstetricians.
- Ensure the anesthesia unit is equipped with all necessary machinery, equipment, medications, and supplies.
- Maintain center resources in an orderly and cost-effective manner.
- Monitor patients in the intensive care unit requiring anesthesia expertise, collaborating with other health professionals.
- Lead anesthesia administration for patients undergoing surgery in collaboration with obstetricians/gynecologists and the surgical team.
- Provide preoperative care, including obtaining consent, and ensure proper handover to the post-operative care team.
- Prepare and submit periodic reports to the immediate supervisor.
- Make on-time reports for clinical incidents according to MSIE guidelines.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
Qualification Requirements
- BSc in Anesthesia
- Four years of directly relevant experience
