About the Job
The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall performance, growth, and operational efficiency of the branch. The role ensures portfolio quality, effective credit management, strong team leadership, and full compliance with organizational policies and procedures. The Branch Manager also drives business growth through planning, marketing, staff management, and customer relationship development.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manages overall portfolio growth and portfolio quality.
- Ensures verification of client existence and creditworthiness of businesses.
- Chairs the Branch Credit Committee (BCC) and participates in evaluating, approving, or rejecting loans within assigned authority.
- Ensures savings deposits and withdrawals are processed in accordance with policies.
- Coordinates growth strategies and projections for loan disbursements.
- Manages, coordinates, and supervises branch staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Oversees daily branch operations and ensures smooth coordination of activities.
- Plans staffing needs, participates in recruitment, and ensures fair HR management practices.
- Evaluates staff performance and supports training and capacity building initiatives.
- Supervises the proper use and maintenance of branch assets including generators, motorcycles, and vehicles.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Implements operational and financial decisions within approved frameworks.
- Ensures accurate balancing of all branch records and reports.
- Participates in management meetings and contributes to problem-solving and coordination activities.
- Develops branch business plans and annual work plans aligned with organizational targets.
- Adjusts plans based on operational needs and performance outcomes.
- Promotes loan, savings, and other financial products to grow the branch customer base.
- Implements promotional and marketing activities within target markets.
Qualification and Technical Skills Required:
- University degree or diploma in Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Management, Banking, Marketing, Cooperative, Agricultural Economics, or related fields.
- 4 years of experience for degree holders or 6 years for diploma holders.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with ability to motivate staff.
- High sense of responsibility, integrity, and accountability.
- Strong planning and financial management skills with basic accounting knowledge.
- Excellent communication, training, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid motorcycle driving license and riding ability.
- Strong marketing and business development skills.
