Job Summary
Abebech Gobena Charity invites qualified and committed candidates to apply for the position of Educational Advisor. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the educational development of institutionalized children to ensure access to quality, inclusive, and age-appropriate education.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct academic assessments and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Facilitate school enrollment, placement, transfers, and examination registration.
- Monitor academic performance and coordinate tutorial and remedial support.
- Provide career guidance and transition support to older children.
- Identify and support children with special educational needs through referrals and advocacy.
- Coordinate with schools, caregivers, and relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure child safeguarding, inclusive education, and a supportive learning environment.
- Maintain educational records and prepare periodic progress reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology, Special Needs Education, or related fields.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in education support, child development, or working with children in institutional or community-based settings.
- Experience with NGOs or a child-care institution is an advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of child development and education systems.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Child-centered, rights-based approach.
- Counseling, mentoring, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
