Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Operations:
- Leads the planning and delivery of preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Oversees key systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and more.
- Manages internal teams and external service providers, enforcing quality, safety, and operational standards.
- Ensures the implementation of safety protocols and occupational health standards.
- Conducts inspections and evaluates system performance.
- Coordinates with other units on operational readiness.
- Provides technical support across ECA compound and Sub-Regional Offices.
- Advises on technical solutions for system failures.
- Recommends solutions to complex operational issues.
- Participates in planning missions and technical consultations.
- Design & Project Coordination Support:
- Reviews design and construction documents for operational feasibility.
- Advises project teams on engineering aspects.
- Coordinates technical support for construction works.
- Provides feedback on engineering designs in project proposals.
- Coordinates technical and logistical support for ongoing construction.
- Environmental Sustainability & Energy Efficiency:
- Leads initiatives to improve energy efficiency.
- Supports institutional sustainability frameworks.
- Budget, Planning & Reporting:
- Contributes to annual planning and budget formulation.
- Tracks operational costs and prepares technical reports.
- Drafts reports and updates on maintenance operations.
- Collects and analyzes data to identify trends.
- Contract, Vendor, HR Management, and Other Duties:
- Oversees service contracts and vendor performance.
- Manages staff performance and development.
- Engages with clients and stakeholders for service quality.
- Manages acquisition planning and oversight of contracts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in engineering, architecture, or a related field. A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Successful completion of data analytics or related programs is an advantage.
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in engineering or a related area is required. Two years or more of experience in managing maintenance and operations of large facilities is desirable. Two years or more of experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable.

- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. French is desirable.
