Job Overview

Role: Data Contributor's Facilitator

Number of Positions: 12

We are seeking highly motivated and organized Facilitators to support data contributors in targeted locations. The role involves:

  • Ensuring the collection and submission of linguistic datasets
  • Providing ongoing support to contributors
  • Monitoring and evaluating training programs
  • Assisting with device facilitation

Facilitators will play a key role in the successful delivery of program objectives by maintaining high standards of quality, ethical conduct, and engagement with contributors.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Support Data Contributors:

  • Ensure collection and submission of linguistic datasets via the designated platform while adhering to guidelines, quality standards, and deadlines.
  • Provide ongoing support to contributors by addressing queries related to payments, product matters, tasks, and any technical or logistical concerns that may arise.

Conduct Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Monitor and evaluate contributor training programs, including sessions on data collection, digital literacy, financial literacy, and soft skills.
  • Assess training effectiveness, ensure participants’ understanding and application of key concepts, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the product team to align findings with program objectives and implementation goals.

Coordinate Device Facilitation:

  • Collaborate on device distribution and follow-up, ensuring devices are allocated to selected contributors.
  • Provide continuous support on proper usage and address any challenges to maximize effective utilization.

Requirements

Core Competencies:

  • Communication Skills: Strong skills for providing clear instructions and conveying information effectively to contributors and the product team.
  • Organizational Skills: Capability to manage tasks, progress reports, deadlines, and deliverables efficiently.
  • Problem-Solving: Proficiency in identifying and resolving challenges promptly.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with contributors and team members.

Language Proficiency:

  • Native Speaker or Fluent in Afaan Oromo: Must be an advanced Afaan Oromo speaker.
  • Clear Communication: Ability to articulate instructions, feedback, and guidance effectively in both spoken and written Amharic and Afaan Oromo.
  • English Proficiency (Advantageous): Moderate to advanced proficiency preferred for effective communication with the product team and reporting purposes.

Educational Background:

  • Specific academic qualification is not required, but necessary skills and experience for a facilitator role are mandatory.
  • Additional certifications in facilitation, communication, or related areas are a plus.

Technical Expertise:

  • Moderate to advanced proficiency in using digital tools, such as Google Drive, Telegram, and task-tracking platforms.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues related to data collection and submission tasks.
  • Experience in remote support and managing online collaboration tools.

Work Experience:

  • Prior experience in facilitation, team coordination, and task management, preferably in data collection or similar projects.
  • Experience in monitoring and guiding virtual teams effectively.
  • Experience addressing technological and logistical barriers, especially in underserved areas or regions with limited internet connectivity.

  • Access to necessary devices (laptop or smartphone) and a stable internet connection.
  • Knowledge of and access to the designated data collection and submission platform.

Availability

  • Commitment to working within agreed timelines and responsiveness during business hours.
  • Readiness to participate in training sessions and complete assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Availability to travel to contributors' locations when needed.
  • Preparedness for periodic in-person check-ins.
  • Flexibility to handle urgent issues or provide support outside regular hours if needed.
  • Willingness to dedicate sufficient time to meet deadlines and quotas.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Ability to prepare and submit daily and bi-weekly progress reports using standardized templates.
  • Capacity to maintain organized records of communication logs, task updates, and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of common challenges in online facilitation and strategies to address them effectively.

Travel (if applicable)

  • Availability for travel to contributor locations when required.
  • Access to reliable transportation and readiness to conduct in-person check-ins as needed.

Safeguarding and Ethical Standards

  • Uphold high ethical and safeguarding standards aligned with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all contributors.
  • Prevent harm and exploitation in all interactions, particularly with vulnerable groups.
  • Respect confidentiality and safeguard all personal and sensitive data of contributors.
  • Obtain informed consent, ensuring contributors understand their rights and the purpose of data collection.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment free from discrimination or harassment.
  • Immediately report any suspected or confirmed cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation to the product team or relevant authority.
  • Ensure responsible digital engagement and safe physical and virtual workspaces.

Payment

Base Salary: Facilitators will receive a fixed base salary of 5,000 ETB per month for their services, aligned with the agreed-upon deliverables.
