Job Description
The Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) is a non-partisan, non-governmental umbrella organization established in 2003 to strengthen advocacy for women’s advancement. It has expanded from 13 to 55 member associations working across Ethiopia to promote the rights and well-being of women and children.
The ARISE project is funded by the European Union and implemented through a consortium including CARE Austria, CARE Ethiopia, and NEWA. The project focuses on strengthening systems for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response and improving social reintegration for survivors, particularly in South Wollo Zone.
Overall Purpose of the Role
The role supports monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities, ensuring accurate documentation of project progress, lessons learned, and best practices through a strong M&E system.
Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Conduct supportive supervision with beneficiaries and stakeholders
- Perform field visits to monitor project implementation and report findings
- Ensure timely and effective project data collection from field locations
- Support development and adaptation of data collection tools
- Ensure implementation of minimum standards and monitoring against objectives and indicators
- Support needs assessment, logical framework, and theory of change development
- Develop MEAL systems including plans, checklists, and reporting formats
- Collaborate with project teams to implement MEAL activities within budget and timelines
- Support internal and external evaluations including baseline and endline surveys
Data Management & Reporting
- Ensure clear project indicators, measurement units, and data sources
- Collect high-quality monitoring data and communicate findings effectively
- Maintain databases and reporting tools for data aggregation
- Ensure proper data storage and documentation archiving
- Prepare and submit accurate reports to supervisors
- Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Share timely MEAL reports with relevant stakeholders
Data Analysis and Feedback
- Analyze monitoring data and support project improvements
Learning and Knowledge Management
- Document lessons learned, success stories, and case studies
- Establish systems for knowledge storage and sharing
- Facilitate project review meetings with stakeholders
Educational Qualification and Experience
- BA/MSc in Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Development Studies, Management, Economics, or related social science fields
- 2–3 years of experience in MEAL or M&E activities
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Experience with digital data tools such as SurveyMonkey, Kobo Toolbox, or ODK
- Year of graduation: From 2013 to 2015 Ethiopian Calendar
