Job Summary:

The Import and Procurement Officer is responsible for the efficient, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of goods and services, with a specialized focus on managing the import process from international and local suppliers. This role involves strategic sourcing, vendor management, negotiation, logistics coordination, and ensuring adherence to all import regulations and company policies to support uninterrupted operations

Department: Logistics

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of crucial bank documents for imported goods
  • Management and execution of various payment terms with banks, such as LC, TT, CAD
  • Proficient understanding of LC, CAD, and TT payment terms
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Ethiopian single-window system
  • Ensuring compliance with Ethiopian shipping line and other shipper agent regulations
  • Adherence to customs rules and regulations
  • Prepare, review, and manage all necessary import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading/airway bills, certificates of origin, and import permits/licenses.
  • Utilize ERP systems, procurement software, and other tools for efficient data entry, tracking, and reporting.
  • Categorization and filing of all documents appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all procurement and import transactions, supplier information, and documentation in relevant systems.
  • Effective management, supervision, and evaluation of import activities
  • Implementation of Contracting & Procurement Processes in line with company standards, including the Request-to-Payment process.
  • Procurement of various company goods, packaging materials, and oversight of inventory
  • Compilation of a monthly report

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement and Supplies Management, Accounting, Marketing Management, International Trade or related fields.
  • 4 years or more of relevant work experience in Purchasing/Marketing or a related department.
  • Background in the food manufacturing industry is advantageous.
  • Basic computer and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting financial, monitoring, and performance data
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and Team-oriented mindset
  • Effective workload organization and priority setting
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities and High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with the single window system is a requirement.
