Organizational Context and Job Purpose
Under the direction of the communications officer and digital communications and advocacy officer, the intern will assist WFP Ethiopia in developing high-quality, innovative, and visually appealing multimedia materials targeting key audiences, including donors, partners, government, and beneficiaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of communication materials, including social media posts, stories, and visuals.
- Assist in collecting field content—photos, quotes, stories, and testimonials—for communication and reporting purposes.
- Help draft content for WFP Ethiopia digital platforms under supervision.
- Maintain consistency in branding and messaging across products.
- Coordinate with vendors, designers, and printers as needed.
- Provide digital communications administrative support, including scheduling posts and social media monitoring.
- Carry out any other communication-related support requested by the supervisor.
Required Skills and Eligibility
- Eligibility:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (e.g., bachelor’s degree) from a recognized university with at least two years completed, or
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program (e.g., master's degree) from a recognized university, or
- A recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate program (within six months prior to application).
- Fluency in oral and written communication in English and Amharic.
- Eligible to work at the duty station of the internship.
- Not related to WFP employees (sons, daughters, brothers, or sisters).
- Educational credentials must be recognized by competent authorities.
Competencies
- Proficiency in Premiere Pro, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Lightroom, Canva, and MS Office.
- Knowledge of digital communications with a strong portfolio demonstrating creative solutions.
- Understanding of WFP communication techniques and awareness of the socio-political context in which WFP operates.
- Ability to work independently and establish effective working relationships with diverse teams.
- Flexibility in accepting work assignments outside normal desk description.
Language
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Amharic.
