Job Summary
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support the financial operations of our client's rental property business. The ideal candidate will have:
- 1–3 years of accounting experience
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Strong understanding of Ethiopian tax regulations
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of tenant payments, rent collections, and deposit transactions.
- Prepare monthly rent invoices and follow up on overdue payments.
- Record all income and expenses related to building operations (e.g., utilities, maintenance, security, etc.).
- Manage petty cash and prepare weekly/monthly cash reports.
- Assist in budget preparation for property maintenance and operational costs.
- Reconcile bank statements and tenant accounts regularly.
- Track lease agreements and ensure proper documentation and filing of tenant records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports specific to rental property performance.
- Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax regulations, including accurate and timely filing of VAT, TOT, withholding tax, and other statutory obligations.
- Support external audits by providing required financial documentation and explanations.
- Use accounting software (e.g., Peachtree, QuickBooks, or ERP systems) to manage financial data and generate reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in rental property or building administration.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Peachtree, QuickBooks, or similar platforms).
- Solid understanding of Ethiopian tax laws and regulatory compliance.
- Good command of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Amharic.
- Experience in handling tenant interactions related to billing and payments is an advantage.
