Job Description
Dodai Manufacturing Plc (Dodai) is a fast-growing organization recently incorporated in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on August 01, 2023. The company is committed to making urban e-mobility accessible across Africa through innovative electric mobility products and services. Dodai manufactures and assembles brand-new electric two-wheelers in Addis Ababa and plans to expand its operations to major regional cities in Ethiopia by the end of 2026.
The Junior EHS Officer is an entry-level position within the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) function, supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of safety programs across Dodai facilities. The role ensures compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, promotes a strong safety culture, and contributes to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment across all operations.
Key Responsibilities
The position focuses on supporting safety compliance, risk prevention, and continuous improvement of EHS systems across the organization.
- Implement and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Conduct regular inspections of production, logistics, and operational areas to identify hazards and risks
- Assist in investigating accidents and incidents and support root cause analysis and preventive actions
- Support the delivery of safety training programs, including PPE usage and emergency procedures
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, training sessions, and incident reports
- Support safety campaigns and initiatives that promote a strong safety culture
- Collaborate with EHS teams, managers, and departments to ensure safe working conditions
- Stay updated on EHS regulations, standards, and industry best practices
- Support internal audits on safety, health, and quality compliance across all facilities
- Identify and report unsafe practices and support corrective actions across departments
- Promote continuous improvement through proactive safety communication and engagement
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related fields
- 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment in a similar role
- Good understanding of local and international occupational health and safety regulations and standards
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical and incident investigation skills
- High level of integrity and willingness to challenge unsafe practices regardless of hierarchy
- Strong sense of safety ethics and responsibility
- Ability to work independently and in a team within a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Detail-oriented and proactive approach to safety management
- Knowledge of electric vehicle manufacturing processes (E2W/E3W) is an added advantage
