Job Summary
DROGA PHARMA PLC, a leading importer, distributor, and commission agent for pharmaceuticals and healthcare products in Ethiopia, is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to join its team. This role focuses on the accurate and safe dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, ensuring patient safety, adherence to professional and regulatory standards, and maintaining high-quality pharmacy services.
Dispensing & Patient Safety:
- Implement systems of good dispensing practice for OTC and prescription-only medicines.
- Ensure accurate dispensing that reflects the prescriber’s intention and meets patient safety requirements.
- Verify that the right patient receives the correct medicine.
- Maintain the quality and integrity of medicines throughout their shelf life.
- Provide clear and complete instructions to patients for correct and safe use of medicines.
- Educate patients on special instructions, warnings, possible side effects, and required actions in case of adverse events.
- Review patient personal details and medication history; update records during dispensing, especially for patients with chronic conditions.
- Contact prescribers when necessary to clarify prescriptions or patient therapy.
- Minimize dispensing errors and promptly report any incidents.
- Dispense medicines with legible, unambiguous labels.
- Confirm prescription legality, completeness, therapeutic appropriateness, and patient suitability.
- Report suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs), counterfeit or substandard medicines to the technical manager or appropriate authority.
Inventory Management:
- Order, stock, and manage prescription and OTC medications.
- Follow pharmacy protocols for opening, closing, inventory management, and record-keeping.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all dispensed medicines, stock levels, and inventory movements.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, regulatory requirements, and corporate guidelines.
Professional Conduct & Ethics:
- Work ethically and maintain full professional competence at all times.
- Follow established routine rules for dispensing, inventory management, and customer service.
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues as needed to maintain smooth pharmacy operations.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
- 0–1 year of experience in dispensing
