The Opportunity
Trócaire has a long-standing commitment to supporting women’s and girls’ protection, voice and leadership – a key pillar of its organisational strategy (2021-2026), Local Power, Global Justice. We are proud of our high-quality work in this area with local partner organisations, women’s networks and movements, supporting women and girls to claim and enjoy their rights, and to live in safety and to the fullness of their potential. As Women’s Empowerment Manager (maternity cover), you will represent and drive Trócaire’s work in this area, defining our strategy and vision and leading a passionate team of global technical advisors that support this work in 15 countries. You will be part of the wider Programmes Team, a collaborative and supportive team that promotes a learning, results and programme quality agenda.

Requirements
We would love if you have demonstrated leadership and management experience, as well as experience delivering programming to support women’s and girls’ protection, voice and leadership that is rooted in survivor-centred, feminist, participatory principles and is in line with international standards. We are seeking someone with international experience, including in fragile or conflict-affected areas, and someone who is passionate about achieving gender equality and transformational change. We work in partnership with local organisations and are committed to supporting locally led responses, including by women-centred organisations, so experience in this area will be beneficial.

Terms and conditions of the post will be in line with local practices and country-specific employment law. The job can be based in Ethiopia, Ireland, Kenya, the United Kingdom or Zimbabwe (note that the successful candidate must have an existing right to live and work in the chosen location).
You will report to the Head of Programmes.The job opportunity will be offered on a fixed term / specified purpose contract (estimated 12 months duration). As part of your role, you will manage a team of 4 – 5 professionals.
