Job Summary
The MEAL Officer, under the direct supervision of the Lead Project Coordinator, is responsible for monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities across EWLA programs and projects. The role ensures effective tracking of project performance, supports evidence-based decision-making, strengthens monitoring systems, and contributes to fundraising, program development, and strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
- Develop and strengthen monitoring, inspection, and evaluation procedures
- Monitor all project activities, expenditures, and progress towards outputs
- Develop monitoring and impact indicators for project success
- Monitor and evaluate overall progress on achievement of results
- Monitor the sustainability of project results
- Provide feedback to the Project Manager on strategies and activities
- Identify bottlenecks and recommend efficiency improvements
- Support evaluation of project effects and impact
Reporting & Data Management
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual progress reports
- Provide inputs, statistics, and information for donor and management reports
- Prepare Issues Log and Risk Log for the project
- Follow the EWLA automated database system and produce reports as needed
- Prepare MIS reports and support reporting on project progress
Capacity Building & System Development
- Conduct capacity assessments of existing M&E systems
- Develop indicators and monitoring strategies
- Develop M&E/MIS system for project and stakeholders
- Organize and conduct training on M&E/MIS for staff and partners
- Support project staff in use of M&E tools
Coordination & Support
- Participate in project reviews, planning workshops and reporting
- Assist in coordination across project components for effective M&E implementation
- Support fundraising and program development initiatives
- Cultivate strategic partnerships and promote EWLA achievements
Education:
- University Degree preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or related field
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in M&E/MIS in development projects (NGOs or government)
- Experience in data collection tools, analysis, and reporting
- Experience with MIS software and statistical tools
- Strong training and facilitation skills
- Experience in NGO/CSO environment preferred
- EU project experience is an added advantage
