Role Summary
The Mining Superintendent is responsible for overseeing open-pit mining operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. The role ensures compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards while driving operational excellence, workforce development, and continuous improvement across site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily open pit mining operations to ensure safe and efficient achievement of production targets
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across all mining activities
- Manage and coordinate mining contractors, supervisors, and operational teams
- Monitor and optimize drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and other production processes
- Drive execution of short-term and medium-term mine production plans
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce operational costs
- Ensure optimal utilization of mining equipment and resources
- Develop, mentor, and supervise operational staff to improve capability and performance
- Collaborate with technical services, maintenance, and other departments for integrated operations
- Prepare and present reports on production performance, safety metrics, and operational challenges
Qualifications
- Degree or M.Sc. in Mining Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in open pit mining operations
- At least 3–5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role in mining, cement factory, or heavy industry environment
- Valid blasting certificate for open pit mining
- Valid driver’s license
