Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the MSIE Centre Coordinator, Centre Head, or Centre Manager/OPD, the Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients. The role ensures efficient service delivery in line with standard medical practices and professional codes of conduct, with a focus on patient safety, comfort, and quality care.
General Nursing Duties
- Provide nursing care based on patient assessment and care planning.
- Perform nursing interventions such as vital sign monitoring, sterile dressing, infection control, and specimen collection.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
- Monitor patient progress and collaborate with the healthcare team.
- Deliver reproductive health and family planning education.
Safe Abortion Care Duties
- Provide safe abortion services as per guidelines and patient needs.
- Administer pregnancy termination procedures under medical supervision.
- Manage emergency symptoms such as bleeding, nausea, and vomiting.
- Offer counselling on family planning and prevention of unwanted pregnancies.
Instrument Nurse Duties
- Prepare surgical instruments and supplies in accordance with standards.
- Assist doctors during operations (Scrub Nurse, Circulating Nurse roles).
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and replenishment of surgical supplies.
Operation Theatre / Scrub Nurse Duties
- Prepare patients for surgery (cleaning, positioning, sterilization).
- Assist surgical teams during procedures by managing instruments and equipment.
- Clean and sterilize operating rooms and tools after procedures.
- Support patient movement and comfort before and after procedures.
Antenatal Care Duties
- Monitor vital signs of pregnant women during follow-up visits.
- Conduct basic laboratory tests and report findings.
- Provide counselling for physiological and social challenges.
- Monitor and document patient conditions.
- Provide first aid and emergency support when needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
- Ensure proper inventory management and participate in stock-taking and audits.
- Prepare and submit periodic reports.
- Report clinical incidents in a timely manner as per guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
- BSc or Diploma in Nursing
- 2–4 years of experience as a Junior Nurse or in a similar role
