Job Summary
The Production Operator is responsible for operating mixing equipment, preparing raw materials, ensuring product quality, maintaining production standards, and following safety procedures during manufacturing operations. The role ensures that production activities are performed accurately according to standard operating procedures and quality requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for inspecting the mixer prior to operation.
- Scale/weigh necessary raw materials (powder and/or liquid) for each batch of mixing operation and load material into mixing equipment.
- Mix ingredients according to the recipe/formulation and ensure results comply with specified batch requirements.
- Ensure that raw materials and packing materials received into the warehouse are free from defects.
- Responsible for keeping the machine and workstation clean throughout the shift.
- Ensure that standard operating procedures are strictly adhered to ensure product quality is within specification.
- Ensure that procedures are carried out carefully and accurately to eliminate errors.
- Ensure product quality by strictly supervising and conducting process control tests.
- Ensure intermediate products are within specification and without non-conformities before releasing the products to subsequent unit operations.
- Maintain good relations and communication with all members of the team and respond politely and in a timely manner.
- Conduct finished product tests.
- Prepare reagents that will be usable for quality inspection using test methods developed.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while handling raw materials, preparing chemicals, and performing mixing operations.
- Report all unsafe conditions, near misses, and unsafe behaviors.
- Report all accidents and incidents within the time frame provided by the company.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping standards within the production unit.
- Document operational information as required.
Qualification and Experience
- BSc in Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or other related fields of study.
- Minimum 0-2 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in the soap and detergent industry.
