About The Region
The UNOPS Africa Regional Office, based in Nairobi, Kenya, oversees the delivery of over 250 projects across 40 countries, with a focus on fragile and conflict-affected settings. Supported by more than 1,000 personnel across five multi-country offices—spanning North, West, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa, and the Horn of Africa—the office advances national priorities through strategic initiatives in Climate Action, Health, Infrastructure, Peace and Security, Middle-Income Country Support, and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The Regional Office provides strategic leadership, operational support, and oversight in key areas including Partnerships, Communications, Management and Oversight, Infrastructure and Project Management, Health and Safety, and Security. By promoting excellence in project delivery, fostering knowledge sharing, and driving continuous improvement, the office contributes to sustainable infrastructure, transparent resource management, and a better quality of life for communities across the continent.
Role Purpose
The intern will report to the Project Assistant and will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational efficiency, cost control, and a pristine, welcoming environment at all times.
Functions / Key Results Expected:
Project Support and Administration
- Assist in the preparation of project-related documents, including reports, presentations, and meeting minutes.
- Support the Project Assistant in tracking project progress, identifying potential issues, and proposing solutions.
- Maintain accurate and organized project files, both physical and electronic.
- Assist with logistical arrangements for project events, workshops, and training programs.
- Support the procurement process by assisting with the preparation of purchase requisitions and tracking orders.
Financial Management and Cost Control
- Assist in monitoring project expenditures and ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and reconciliations.
- Assist in tracking and managing invoices and payments.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of cost-saving measures.
Facility Management and Upkeep
- Assist in ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of the Conference Center facilities.
- Support the coordination of maintenance and repair activities.
- Assist in managing inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Support the implementation of safety and security protocols.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
- Assist in communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, partners, and clients.
- Support the preparation of communication materials, such as newsletters and website content.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating meetings and events.
- Provide excellent customer service to Conference Center users.

Education Requirements
Required:
- The applicant should have completed a Minimum First level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent), or be enrolled in a postgraduate program or have graduated from such studies within three (3) years prior to the start date of the intern assignment.
Desired:
- Area of study should preferably be in would preferably be in Business Administration, Project Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
