ROUTINE IMMUNIZATION SUPPORT MANAGER

Job Description

• The Ministry of Health (MoH), Ethiopia, invites competent and qualified applicants for the position of Routine Immunization Support Manager under the immunization service desk.

• This position provides technical support to strengthen routine immunization systems, improve service delivery, enhance data quality, and support the identification and vaccination of zero-dose and under-vaccinated children. It also supports the introduction of new vaccines into the national immunization program.

Qualification

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, or Epidemiology

Experience

• Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in maternal and child health programs

• At least 5 years of direct experience in immunization programs, including data analysis and quantitative/qualitative assessments

Job Summary

Provides comprehensive technical assistance to strengthen routine immunization systems by improving service delivery, data quality, vaccine introduction processes, and capacity building at national and subnational levels.

Key Responsibilities

Program Monitoring & Improvement

• Monitor immunization program performance and improve service delivery and data quality
• Support initiatives addressing zero-dose and under-vaccinated children
• Conduct supportive supervision, data triangulation, and performance reviews

Vaccine Introduction & Planning

• Support development and implementation of new vaccine introduction plans
• Contribute to national immunization strategy (NIS) implementation
• Support revision of monitoring and evaluation tools for new vaccines
• Assist in micro-planning and resource allocation for immunization programs

Capacity Building & Technical Support

• Conduct training, coaching, and mentorship for immunization teams
• Develop training materials for health workers at all levels
• Strengthen capacity of regional and national EPI teams

Data Management & Quality Improvement

• Conduct data quality assessments and triangulation studies
• Monitor completeness and timeliness of immunization data
• Provide regular feedback to regional and subnational health bureaus
• Support data analysis and evidence-based planning

Coordination & Program Support

• Coordinate national and sub-national immunization campaigns (SIAs)
• Support integration of vaccination into primary health care services
• Facilitate EPI review meetings and stakeholder coordination
• Support advocacy, social mobilization, and demand generation activities

Surveillance & Field Support

• Support VPD surveillance (AFP, measles, and other diseases)
• Conduct field supervision and monitoring in hard-to-reach areas
• Support implementation of PIRI and outreach vaccination activities

Reporting

• Submit monthly progress reports to the Federal Ministry of Health
• Provide detailed final assignment reports
• Document lessons learned and best practices

Accountability

The position is governed by Civil Service and Ministry of Health Human Resource Administration rules and regulations. The Terms of Reference may be revised based on emerging priorities.
