Senior Accountant

Job Description

K.Mikedem General Import and Export and its sister companies (KKGW, KROTAJ, PORCHLIGHT, and Meseret K/Mariam (Midea Electronics)) are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee and manage general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions across the group of companies.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accuracy in all accounting records, maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts and bank statements, preparing financial reports, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. The role also requires strong analytical skills, tax compliance knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with or supervise other accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities

The position focuses on financial control, reporting, reconciliation, tax compliance, and accounting system management.

• Process and post journal entries for daily transactions in Peachtree and ensure accuracy of the General Ledger
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of accounting data by recording, verifying, and entering transactions into accounting software
• Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by analyzing account information
• Maintain fixed assets register and ensure accurate tracking of accumulated depreciation
• Maintain and reconcile subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and resolving discrepancies
• Maintain the general ledger by preparing trial balances and reconciling entries
• Prepare financial statements including balance sheet, profit and loss, and other periodic reports
• Ensure full tax compliance including VAT, withholding tax, income tax, and pension contributions in line with ERCA requirements
• Reconcile daily sales records against POS Z reports
• Reconcile cash balances against bank statements on a monthly basis and report findings
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports including sales, receivables, and payables
• Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and risk assessment
• Assist in year-end external audits and provide required audit support
• Maintain secure financial records through daily system backups
• Ensure confidentiality and protection of financial information
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from a recognized university
• Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in wholesale or retail companies
• Strong proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and Peachtree accounting software
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
