Sr. Accountant

Job Summary

Private Center Real Estate is seeking a highly capable Senior Accountant who will independently manage the entire finance function. This role requires someone who can handle all day-to-day accounting tasks, compliance, payroll, project cost accounting, bank relations, reporting, and financial planning without supervision. The Senior Accountant will be the sole finance professional responsible for ensuring accurate records, timely filings, and strong financial discipline across the company.

Key Responsibilities

1. Full Accounting Operations (Daily to Monthly)

• Maintain complete and accurate accounting records for all company transactions.
• Handle daily bookkeeping: journal entries, vouchers, receipts, payments, and reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable, receivable, petty cash, and expense tracking.
• Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain updated financial records at all times.

2. Tax & Regulatory Compliance

• Prepare and submit all monthly, quarterly, and annual tax declarations (VAT, ToT, Income Tax, Withholding, Pension, Payroll Tax).
• Ensure strict compliance with Ethiopian financial regulations.
• Maintain documentation for ERCA inspections and audit readiness.

3. Payroll Administration

• Prepare monthly payroll, allowances, commissions, and statutory deductions.
• Ensure accurate payroll tax calculations and timely submissions.
• Maintain employee payment records and HR-related financial files.

4. Real Estate Project Accounting

• Manage financial records for off-plan sales, buyer deposits, escrow accounts, and developer payments.
• Prepare financial updates for sales, marketing, and project teams.

5. Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare full monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Generate cash flow statements, forecasts, and budget performance reports.
• Present financial insights directly to the General Manager for decision-making.

6. Banking & Finance Operations

• Manage all banking activities, including LC payments, loan documentation, and account monitoring.
• Handle deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain relationships with bank officers for corporate transactions.

7. Budgeting & Cost Control

• Prepare annual and project-level budgets.
• Monitor spending discipline and enforce cost control measures.
• Provide recommendations based on real-time financial data and cost trends.

8. Internal Controls & Documentation

• Establish and implement financial controls.
• Maintain strong documentation for every transaction.
• Ensure audit readiness by keeping proper financial records organized.

Qualification

• BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s is a plus but not required).
• Minimum 3-5+ years of practical, hands-on accounting experience.
• Experience handling 100% of finance operations independently is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of Ethiopian tax laws and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with accounting software (Sage/Peachtree, Zoho Books, or similar).
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and integrity.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
