Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Cost Accountant to join our finance team. This role is critical in managing inventory accounting, analyzing costs, ensuring tax compliance, and supporting operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in inventory valuation, ERP systems, and a solid understanding of excise, VAT, and withholding taxes.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for recording all inventory transactions in the general ledger and in ERP or accounting systems, ensuring proper classification and valuation of stock.
- Understanding of costing method across manufacturing stages—raw material issues, work-in-progress, and finished goods—to ensure consistent and accurate stock valuation.
- Conduct internal audits and implement controls to prevent inventory shrinkage.
- Ensure proper classification and Analyze inventory costs by applying valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO, Average Cost) and ensure correct cost of goods sold (COGS) calculation.
- Understand and follow excise tax, VAT, and withholding tax regulations.
- File inventory reports and declarations with the Ministry of Revenue at excise tax
- Utilize Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) to verify and record incoming inventory against purchase orders.
- Evaluate inventory systems and procedures, recommending improvements for accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure new stock is properly classified and valued.
- Post inventory and cost records accurately into Peachtree accounting software. Maintain consistency between physical inventory, ERP data, and Peachtree entries.
- Support management with insight into production efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience in cost accounting and inventory management.
- 3 and above years’ relevant work experience Including at least 2 years as cost accountant in manufacturing industry.
- Solid understanding of excise tax, VAT, and withholding tax regulations.
- Experience filing inventory reports with tax authorities.
- Proficiency in Peachtree and ERP systems.
- Strong mathematics, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of GAAP and inventory valuation methods.
