About the Job
The Senior Field Sales Engineer is responsible for leading the promotion and sales of agricultural machinery across Ethiopia by combining strong technical expertise with field-based sales execution. The role focuses on engaging commercial farms, cooperatives, NGOs, and government programs, while delivering solutions tailored to local agricultural practices and market conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive sales of tractors, harvesters, implements, and related agricultural machinery.
- Identify and develop business opportunities with commercial farms, cooperatives, NGOs, and government institutions.
- Conduct on-site demonstrations in rural areas to showcase machinery performance.
- Advise customers on machinery selection based on land size, crop type, and terrain.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
- Prepare quotations, tenders, and proposals for institutional and commercial clients.
- Support customers in accessing financing options such as banks and leasing services.
- Coordinate with after-sales teams to ensure proper delivery, installation, and maintenance support.
- Monitor competitor activities and provide market intelligence.
- Represent the company at agricultural exhibitions, trade fairs, and field events.
- Prepare and submit sales reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates.
Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Achievement of annual and quarterly sales targets.
- Number of machinery units sold per region.
- Growth in institutional and large-scale sales.
- Customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Effectiveness of demonstrations and conversion rates.
Working Conditions:
- Extensive travel across rural Ethiopia with significant field presence.
- Work in remote areas with limited infrastructure.
- Frequent overnight stays in regional locations.
- High workload during peak agricultural seasons.
Education:
- BSc in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5โ8 years of experience in agricultural machinery, heavy equipment, or automotive field sales.
- Experience working with cooperatives, unions, or NGO/public procurement is advantageous.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of Ethiopian farming systems and agricultural practices.
- Proven ability to achieve sales targets in field-based roles.
- Fluency in Afaan Oromo and Amharic; additional local languages are an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Valid Ethiopian driving license with strong off-road driving skills.
