The Opportunity

This role will be responsible for the overall SRHR, SGBV and FGM activities implementation and support the project team and other staff in all matters related to SRHR and SGBV interventions. Will be responsible for development of deep and meaningful partnerships aligned to SRHR and SGBV pieces with the project team, participants, the government structures at various level, service providers, different work units of PIE as well as grassroots structures such as youth clubs to enhance the project’s outreach and intended objective/ambition. The officer will significantly support effective and efficient implementation of reducing barriers to SRHR and violence faced by SGBV and FGM survivors in accessing safe, quality, disability inclusive and gender responsive services, treatment, supportive responses. Contribute the realization of project aim including inclusive access to survivor-centered services by financing means of production and further skills training, facilitating stable and independent income as an essential response for survivors of SGBV, especially for those who have lost their livelihoods due to the conflict, or cannot leave a violent relationship due to economic dependency, or cannot return to their families and communities due to the prevailing intersectional stigma.

The Individual

  • Bachelor (or Masters) degree in SRH, public health, social work or sociology
  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experiences in the areas of SRHR, SGBV and FGM.
  • Clear understanding of relevant policies, strategies and national SRHR &SGBV, FGM roadmaps, strategic plan, guidelines of SGBV and SRHiE(MISP) in Ethiopia for prevention and responses
  • Understanding of survivor-cantered and participatory approaches to development, child-rights programming, participatory Monitoring, Evaluation and Research systems and processes preferred.
  • Strong partnership and networking skills, lobby and advocacy.

Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
