Tax Specialist

About the Job

We are looking for a highly skilled Tax Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with tax regulations and managing tax filings. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of Ethiopian tax laws, and experience in handling corporate tax matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare tax returns, including corporate income tax, VAT, and other statutory filings
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and international tax regulations
• Assist in tax audits, investigations, and liaise with tax authorities
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organization
• Support financial reporting with accurate tax provisions and deferred tax calculations
• Liaise with the Ministry of Revenues on routine compliance matters
• Collaborate with internal departments and external advisors on tax-related matters
• Ensure compliance with Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) policies and Code of Conduct

About You

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Background in law is an added advantage
• Professional certification (e.g., IFRS, ACCA) is preferred

Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience, with at least 5 years in taxation
• Experience in multinational corporate or consulting environments is preferred
• Experience in the mining industry is an advantage
• Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
• Proficiency in tax software and accounting systems
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
