10 Academy (10academy.org) is a not-for-profit community-owned initiative with the mission of building Africa’s workforce in key areas of the 4th Industrial Revolution including Artificial Intelligence, Web3/Blockchain, Internet of Things, and Quantum Computing by identifying, training, and launching the careers of brilliant young people in Africa, Our vision is for youth in Africa to have a rich set of pathways to secure decent, impactful, and highly multiplicative employment with social, economic, and environmental benefits

Formed in 2017, 10 Academy has trained 172 young people from 19 African countries, 35% of which are women. 95% of 10 Academy graduates have matched into jobs and cover the cost of training through pay-it-forward contributions, Forecasting projects that graduates from 10 Academy earn an additional $1.5M in earnings over their working lifetime.

We are currently seeking to recruit a talented and passionate Careers Tutor to support our learners on their journey to success.

Responsibilities

Community Management

Community Management

• Act as the central point for the 150 person online learning community at 10 Academy
• Ensure learner schedules, due dates, submission mechanisms and related are clear
• Provide links to resources
• Moderating and curating online community to ensure that information is posted in the correct channels and that all information is appropriate
• Answer learners questions
• Support tutors
• Support with grading of assignments and creation of weekly leaderboards

Content curation and development

• Develop a schedule for posting enrichment content that engages the community and provides additional perspective

Support learners

• Support learners on their learning journey
• Support learners to develop necessary skills for their careers through holding tutorials, classes, and training sessions

Guest Talks

• Host guest talks

Career Coaching and Training

• Help to design and develop careers training content
• Help with coaching trainees on their job-readiness and careers choice
• Help to boost trainees' confidence in excelling in their job search
• Develop tutorials on specific non-technical topics and deliver regular sessions
• Challenge the strongest learners and support those needing more time
• Grade non-technical assignments and provide detailed feedback in writing

• Strong understanding of the non-technical skills needed for success in the job market.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build rapport with learners and create a supportive learning environment.
• Ability to manage and engage a diverse online learning community.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Outgoing, energetic
• Available full-time during the employment period (no side jobs).

Person Specification

• Warm, outgoing, and approachable with the confidence to actively engage with learners.
• Energetic and proactive in managing an active online community.
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written, are essential. You will use these for internal communications, but also to build 10 Academy’s global profile.
• We are a small, young and hungry team and we are looking for someone to deliver solutions and predict future issues and solve them.
• We are able to set out goals and provide some guidance, but much of the role will be self-directed and self-driven.
• Alignment to the goals of 10 Academy is essential.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• You will work directly with Operations Manager and other key team members; thus, high level of collaboration is essential

Hours: Full-time

Period: 1 April 2026 - 31 July 2026 - 3 months contract
