Role and Responsibilities
The purpose of the Social Support position is the day-to-day implementation of the core competency and related project activities.
Generic Responsibilities
- Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to NRC policies.
- Assistance Outreach: Ensure projects reach the most vulnerable and identify better ways to provide assistance.
- Document Management: Ensure proper filing of documents both in hard and soft copies.
- Data Collection: Carry out data collection as required.
- Documentation: Prepare and file relevant documents according to procedures.
- Partnership Cooperation: Cooperate with relevant partners and local authorities.
- Programme Implementation: Work with WASH and shelter coordinators and staff to implement activities according to the plan.
- Commitment to Values: Demonstrate commitment to NRC’s mission, vision, and values.
Specific Responsibilities
- First Point of Contact: Act as the first point of contact between NRC and project participants.
- Transparency in Selection: Ensure transparency and accountability during beneficiary selection and verification.
- Coordination with Authorities: Coordinate with community leaders and local authorities.
- Verification Visits: Conduct household verification visits for vulnerable populations.
- Feedback Mechanisms: Establish complaints and feedback mechanisms.
- Community Mobilization: Lead community mobilization and disseminate essential information for distributions.
- Field Activity Follow-up: Implement all field activities within the project scope under the WASH and shelter programs.
- Inclusive Participation: Ensure equal participation by all segments of the IDPs, Returnees, and hosting communities.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit organized field reports to the WASH and Shelter coordinator.
- Additional Tasks: Perform any other task relevant to the position as requested by the line manager.
Qualifications
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Degree: Degree in Hydraulics Engineering, Water Engineering, Construction/Civil Engineering, or relevant field.
Relevant Experience
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 1-year experience in humanitarian organizations, preferably as a community mobilizer or in social support.
- Field Context Experience: Work experience in Ethiopian IDPs, returnees, and refugee camp contexts is advantageous.
- Language Skills: Fluency in Tigrigna and a fair understanding of English.
