The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit an intern in the Engineering Facility and Projects Unit in Addis Ababa - Ethiopia.

About the position:
The ILRI engineering unit is currently looking for a reliable, and efficient intern who is willing to learn and may be involved in some supervision work of the facility as needed. He/she must possess strong organizational and communication skills to effectively manage and draw plans and must also be able to generate weekly review reports on the current conditions of the campus landscape based on the standard checklist provided by ILRI. The intern will work collaboratively with the engineering team to integrate data into the service desk system.
Key responsibilities:
The intern will work closely with the staff in the department to: -
- Connect with people, regularly communicate, and coordinate project activities with internal.
- Make on-site visits to check on campus landscape implementation and maintenance status with the MTA contractor and report to engineering supervisors based on the checklist provided every week.
- Communicate with the engineering supervisor update the space charge database every month and send reports to the engineering supervisor.
- Supervise and inspect any assigned planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance works on site and see if it was addressed and solved correctly.
- Collect all facility building information: The architect can help gather all necessary data regarding the building such as its floor plans, structural information, old maintenance history, and other essential data related to putting in the new ticketing system or upgrading the existing system.
- Space allocation: The architect can assist in the process of measuring and allocating space in the building. This information is important for creating accurate floor plans, determining the number of occupants, and planning for the maintenance of the building.
- Data entry for the system: The intern can help enter data into the new ticketing system, including all work orders with their cost and work order classification. This data is necessary for tracking work orders and managing maintenance tasks.
- Liaison with supervisors: Liaise with all supervisors to obtain PPM data for the new ticketing system. This information can be used to create an effective preventive maintenance plan.
- Training and support: Assist in training and support to staff members who will be using the new ticketing system. This will help ensure that the system is used effectively and efficiently.
- Documentation: Assist in documentation on the new ticketing system, including user manuals and technical documentation, and help with arranging and organizing share point data.
Position requirements:
The ideal candidate should: -
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate university degree program in Architecture, Construction management, or Civil engineering.
- Possesses drawing skills and familiarity with design software (Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp, 3D Max, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, or similar).
- Demonstrate good communication skills Have maintenance inspection skills.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Possess good command of written and spoken English language.
Location: ILRI Addis Ababa - Ethiopia.
Duration: 3 months.
