POSITION SUMMARY
BEB, a leading organization dedicated to transforming global child welfare through technology and collaboration, seeks a highly experienced and results-oriented Accountant to lead all aspects of the organization's financial operations in Ethiopia. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced finance professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and non-profit finance. The Accountant & Finance Head will oversee all aspects of the organization's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and fundraising, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and ethical standards.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This job will include the following responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting transactions
- Prepare budget forecasts for all the projects
- Publish financial statements in time
- Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings/report
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Ensure timely bank payments
- Compute taxes and prepare tax returns
- Close the books of accounts and get them audited by a certified audit firm.
- Ensure financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
- Comply with financial policies and procedures.
- Financial Planning & Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with BEB's mission and
- strategic goals.
- Develop budgets for both organizational operations and specific projects.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- More than five years of experience as accountant or equivalent position, preferably in an NGO environment.
- Knowledge of financial accounting standards and practices.
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in accounting software.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
