Job Summary
The Cashier is responsible for accurately receiving, recording, and processing customer payments while ensuring proper cash handling and financial accountability. The role involves issuing receipts, maintaining daily cash records, and supporting basic financial reporting in line with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
The Cashier also provides courteous customer service and collaborates closely with the finance and administrative teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Receive payments in cash, check, or electronic methods and issue official receipts promptly.
- Accurately record all financial transactions in cashbooks, systems, or accounting software.
- Maintain and balance daily cash collections and prepare end-of-day cash reports.
- Ensure proper handling, safekeeping, and transfer of cash in accordance with internal controls.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, or monthly financial summaries to the finance office.
- Verify billing documents, invoices, and payment requests for accuracy and completeness.
- Support compliance with tax and revenue regulations, including VAT and withholding tax requirements.
- Respond to customer inquiries related to payments, bills, and receipts in a courteous manner.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and supporting documents.
- Report cash discrepancies, errors, or irregularities immediately to the supervisor.
- Collaborate with accountants and administrative staff during audits and financial reviews.
- Perform other finance or administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification or registration (where applicable).
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare, service, or small business setting is an advantage.
Work Schedule
- Full-time.
- Flexible schedule may be considered, subject to workload and reporting requirements.
