Position Objective
The Community Development Facilitator supports DCA’s EU-INTPA project by carrying out all community-level implementation activities, ensuring that planned agricultural and livelihood interventions are delivered effectively at the grassroots level. The role focuses on mobilizing target communities, facilitating field activities, and providing direct support to beneficiaries to ensure smooth and timely project delivery.
Purpose
- Conduct all field-level community facilitation work: assessments, beneficiary mobilization, selection, registration, and distribution of inputs.
- Implement agricultural and livelihood activities as guided by the Agronomy/Agriculture Officer.
- Support the establishment of demonstration sites, backyard gardening plots, irrigation activities, composting, and sharecropping initiatives.
- Promote gender-transformative participation by encouraging women’s engagement in livelihood and agricultural activities.
Engagement
- Organize and facilitate FGDs, PRA tools, and community awareness sessions.
- Mobilize community groups for agricultural trainings, demonstrations, irrigation work, value chain activities, and peacebuilding efforts.
- Support community groups/committees involved in irrigation, backyard gardening, market linkage, agro-dealership, and social cohesion.
- Collect field data, monitor progress, report challenges, risks, and any emerging issues promptly.
- Maintain positive relationships with beneficiaries, local leaders, and frontline partners.
Delivery
- Ensure community priorities and concerns are integrated into project planning and activity rollout.
- Facilitate timely and accountable distribution of inputs to targeted beneficiaries.
- Conduct regular field follow-up and report progress to the Agronomy/Agriculture Officer.
- Support gender-responsive and inclusive implementation at the community level.
- Ensure all activities respect local norms, culture, and community dynamics.
- Provide continuous support to beneficiaries and request technical assistance whenever necessary.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Production, Natural Resource Management, or a related field from a recognized institution
- At least 4 years of relevant field-level experience supporting smallholder farmers on crop production and agronomic practices
- Practical experience in agricultural livelihood or development projects, preferably with NGOs or humanitarian organizations.
- Direct hands-on experience working with refugee and host community populations
- Good practical knowledge of irrigation activities, crop production, value chains, and climate-resilient agricultural practices
- Strong experience in community mobilization, facilitation of trainings, and field demonstrations
- Ability to collect field data, follow up on activities, and report progress clearly
- Basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Knowledge of the local operational context is an advantage
- Proficient in the English language
- Fluency in the local language is mandatory.
