Community Development Program Coordinator

Job Description

Orbit Innovation Hub is seeking a proactive and supportive Community Development Program Coordinator. This individual will play a key role in the day-to-day coordination and execution of community engagement initiatives, contributing to the overall success of Orbit Innovation Hub's outreach efforts.

They will work within the framework of the SEED Program, a 5-year initiative designed to create 1 million dignified jobs for Ethiopian youth and women through entrepreneurship funded by MasterCard Foundation. The Coordinator will assist in inspiring, educating, and connecting budding entrepreneurs, particularly women and vulnerable youth, by supporting community events, fostering relationships, and facilitating participation in OIH's programs.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement Support

• Assist in the development and implementation of community engagement and outreach plans to raise awareness, build partnerships, and drive participation in the organization's programs and events.
• Support the establishment and maintenance of positive relationships with key community stakeholders, including local government, businesses, non-profits, and community groups.
• Identify and support opportunities for collaboration and sponsorship with community organizations and businesses that align with the organization's goals.

Event Coordination & Facilitation

• Assist in the organization and facilitation of community events, workshops, and activities that align with the organization's mission and objectives, ensuring smooth execution.
• Coordinate logistics for community events, including venue setup, participant registration, and material preparation.
• Provide on-site support during community events and activities, ensuring a positive experience for attendees.

Community Communication & Outreach

• Support the creation and distribution of communication materials specifically for community activities, such as event invitations, reminders, and post-event summaries.
• Contribute to community outreach efforts to ensure broad participation and engagement.
• Represent the organization at community events and meetings as required, acting as a supportive point of contact.

Program Monitoring & Reporting

• Assist in monitoring and analyzing community engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of outreach strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective information flow and alignment regarding community development initiatives.
• Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in community engagement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Community Development, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in community engagement or program coordination, preferably within the development, non-profit, or entrepreneurial sectors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey messages clearly and concisely.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse groups.
• Proficient in using relevant digital tools for community outreach and event management.
• Adaptable and able to work effectively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks.
• Strong organizational and project support skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Passionate about the organization's mission and committed to making a positive impact in the community.
