Role Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial health of the company with a heavy emphasis on payroll administration for both internal staff and outsourced personnel. You will ensure 100% compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and labor proclamations.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Payroll: Manage complex payroll cycles for diverse client portfolios, ensuring accurate calculation of gross earnings, deductions, and net pay.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and file monthly tax returns, including Employee Income Tax (PIT), Pension contributions, VAT, and Withholding Tax (WHT) in accordance with ERCA regulations.
- Financial Reporting: Maintain the general ledger, perform bank reconciliations, and prepare monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L).
- Accounts Receivable/Payable: Oversee client invoicing and vendor payments, ensuring timely collections to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors for annual closings and ensure all financial records are audit-ready.
- Advisory: Stay updated on changes in Ethiopian financial laws and advise management on the impact of new tax or labor proclamations.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of experience
- Legal Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Ethiopian Labor Proclamation and Tax Administration Proclamation.
