Job Summary
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis to support strategic decision-making and drive the Bank's financial performance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role interfaces closely with senior leadership, business units, and strategy teams to deliver actionable financial insights aligned with corporate objectives.
Key responsibilities include leading the bank’s financial planning and forecasting functions, conducting profitability analysis, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability. The position requires a strong understanding of financial modeling, risk assessment, capital planning, and regulatory compliance, while providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
Job Description
Business Partnering
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement long-term strategic plans.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations based on market trends, competitive analysis, and internal performance metrics to optimize business performance and profitability.
- Support strategic decision-making processes through financial modeling and scenario analysis.
- Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to evaluate the financial impact of various business decisions.
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor, providing insights to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to align financial goals with overall business objectives.
- Participate in cross-functional projects by offering financial expertise and strategic support.
- Ensure financial goals are aligned with overall business strategy and regulatory requirements.
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the bank’s annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
- Identify key drivers of profitability, cost efficiency, and revenue growth.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial plans and forecasts, and monitor performance against budget to drive corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain rolling forecasts to predict financial performance and adapt to changing market conditions.
- Manage the forecasting process to ensure accurate and timely projections of financial performance.
- Manage quarterly and annual forecasting processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial updates.
- Monitor budgeted performance, providing variance analysis and corrective action recommendations.
Financial Modeling
- Develop robust financial models for scenario planning, stress testing, and forecasting that support strategic decision-making and ensure alignment with market conditions and regulatory changes.
- Evaluate different capital structures and funding strategies to optimize financial stability.
- Support strategic initiatives such as M&A evaluation, capital investments, and pricing strategies.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of timely and insightful financial reports for senior leadership, stakeholders, and the board of directors.
- Provide insights on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Net Interest Margin (NIM), Cost-to-Income Ratio, and Return on Assets (ROA).
- Evaluate market trends, industry risks, and economic factors impacting the bank’s financial performance.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess financial health, operational efficiency, and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support business operations, variance assessments, profitability analysis, and performance monitoring to drive efficiency.
- Assess the impact of economic, market, and industry trends on the bank’s financial performance.
Capital Allocation, Risk Management & Compliance
- Assist in capital allocation decisions and optimize the bank’s balance sheet strategy.
- Ensure compliance with Basel III, IFRS, and local banking regulations.
- Collaborate with Risk Management and Treasury teams to assess financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Conduct scenario planning, stress testing, and liquidity analysis to safeguard financial stability.
- Identify and analyze financial risks and opportunities, developing strategies to mitigate identified risks.
Digital Transformation & Process Optimization
- Automate financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes to enhance efficiency.
- Leverage data analytics and business intelligence tools for real-time financial insights.
- Develop dashboarding and visualization tools to enhance decision-making.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, ACCA) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial planning, analysis, and modeling. Experience within the banking or financial services industry is preferrable.
- Expertise in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and risk assessment.
- Proficiency in financial planning software, data analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau), and advanced Excel modeling.
